China's first inter-city express train was delivered on May 23 to the Ningbo municipal government in Zhejiang province, Xinhua reported.
The CRH6F train can travel at speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour, and is designed to make medium- and short-distance trips between cities, according to Sifang Locomotive and Rolling Stock, an express train manufacturer based in Qingdao, Shandong province.
The manufacturer emphasized that the CRH6F train has a maximum capacity of 2,000 passengers, and can transfer 40,000 passengers within one hour, more than any other existing train. The train will travel between Ningbo and Yuyang, both in Zhejiang province, according to its manufacturer.
