A man from southern China's city of Guangzhou and his son celebrated Star Wars Day on May 4 by making models of Star Wars movie characters from tissue paper. It was their way of paying tribute to the movie. Their models include classic figures such as Darth Vader, Yoda, Luke Skywalker, a stormtrooper, and Princess Leia.
The millennial father is a paper art enthusiast. Both he and his son are fans of Star Wars. He came up with this idea when shopping in a supermarket and decided to make the models to show his respect. In addition, he saw it as a valuable opportunity to communicate with his child, hoping to further deepen the love between them.
The man – surnamed Li – said they spent two weeks making the tissue models, and it took them several hours just to make a character’s head. The project was a huge challenge for Li's 9-year-old son, because it required imagination and patience.
“Star Wars is a sci-fi movie that opened my mind to possibilities just like it did for most millennials, and it has become a favorite among children,” Li said. He was happy to share the interest with his son, which helped him enter the real world of his child.
