On May 3, an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) expert detonated a 300-kilogram American aerial bomb in Zhangzhou, Fujian province. The bomb was discovered accidentally at a construction site during excavation. It was 124 centimeters in length, with a diameter of 34 centimeters. Given its well-preserved state, the bomb could have exploded at any time.
As the region was an old revolutionary base area during World War II, the bomb may have originated during that period. However, its origin cannot be confirmed without further investigation. The expert reminded citizens that they must report the discovery of any bombs to police.
