More than 3,000 people gathered on a square in Qianjiang, Hubei province on April 22 to enjoy a feast of lobsters. Three thousand kilograms of lobster was consumed during the event, with hungry foodies filling up nearly 300 tables. Even more people waited beside the tables in hopes of finding a vacant chair.
"The view was magnificent," said a visitor from eastern China's Jiangsu province, adding that he has never experienced such a big feast in his hometown before.

The feast was actually a warm-up event for a full-fledged lobster festival to be held soon in Qianjiang. According to Zhang Denghua, manager of the restaurant that organized the event, the lobster feast set a new national record for both number of dinners and overall consumption of lobster.
