The city of Jianyang in southwestern China’s Sichuan province has embarked on a project to replace the city's impractically tall bus stop signs. The 400-plus signs will be changed over within a month.
Currently, the signs are an average of 2.6 meters tall, with the highest reaching 3.48 meters. Commuters have been complaining for several years that the signs are so high in the air that their text isn't visible from the ground.
"The bus schedules are so tall and the font is extremely small," said one Jianyang resident.
Some residents joked that the signs were so tall only Yao Ming - the Chinese basketball star who is 2.26 meter tall - would be able to read them.
