(People's Daily Online)    13:15, March 31, 2017

26 kilometers form Adelaide, there is a long historical German town called Hahndorf. This is the oldest residence of German immigrants in South Australia, remaining German flavor. The houses remain the style of Germanic sandstone architecture from a hundred years ago which is very unique. The town is small while the scenery is elegant.

The architectures of this town have multiple styles. Design, color and house furnishings are full of beauty and creativity. And all kinds of specific stores are also covered with streets on both sides. There are lighting shops, candle shops, clothing stores, leather goods stores, chocolate shops, toy stores, etc. While enjoying German customs and habits, tourists can also purchase souvenirs of all kind.

Of course, the town also has authentic German restaurants and pubs, offering delicious German sausages, pork, beer and other traditional German cuisine. Today, we are at the landmark of this town, Hahndorf Inn, a restaurant is only a few years younger than the town.

According to the introduction of the restaurant’s general manager Andrew, this restaurant is only a small inn when it first started. It was until forty years ago when the highway construction went through here, the Hahndorf Inn opened restaurant as part of its business. The inside of the restaurant is decorated with timber which is peculiar. Every meal is served with large portion. In here, everyone can taste the long-expected German meal.

Pork is the absolute lead in German cuisine. The restaurant’s most popular platter is called ‘A Taste of Germany’, which includes a variety of sausages, elbow, German pickles with a lingering after-taste, baked potatoes, Bavarian alkaline bread and so on. The big pig’s feet and a variety of smoked sausages are delicious only by its look. A big plate with amazing capacity, coerced with a rich flavor of Germany, accompanied by bursts of amazing, everybody enjoyed the great meal of German taste.

Andrew not only owns this restaurant, but also owns a wine center: Adelaide Hills Wine Center, selling all sorts of wine. He warmly invited everyone to visit his wine center. South Australia is a leading wine producer in Australia, accounting over 50% of the nation’s wine output. It is one of the most appropriate places for planting quality grapes in Australia. It is also the best area to understand the history and development of Australia’s wine.
