

A grand reception was held in Beijing to celebrate the 78th Pakistan Day and the 66th anniversary of establishment of Pakistan China diplomatic relations, by Embassy of Pakistan on 23rd March, 2017.
The reception was attended by a large number of guests including members of Pakistani community, diplomatic community and Chinese dignitaries. Mr. Li Xiaopeng, Minister of Transport was the chief guest on the occasion.

Welcoming the guests, Ambassador Masood Khalid said that Pakistan Day is celebrated every year on 23rd March to pay homage to the founders of Pakistan.
Ambassador termed the year 2017 particularly significant being the 70th anniversary of the creation of Pakistan. Ambassador said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President Xi Jinping converted the existing friendship into strong economic co-operation based on mutual benefits and shared prosperity.
Chief guest Mr. Li Xiaopeng extended warm congratulations on behalf of the Chinese Government on the 78th anniversary of the passing of Pakistan Resolution. He termed Pakistan as China’s only all weather friend. He said that China would continue to give priority to China-Pakistan relations and work together to bring peace and prosperity to the entire region.

A cake cutting ceremony took place wherein the Ambassador, Chief Guest and other dignitaries cut the cake.
Cultural performance by a Chinese Orchestra and a famous Xinjiang singer who sang a number of Pakistani national songs enthralled the audience.
Other dignitaries including Ex Ambassador Sha Zukang, President China Pakistan Friendship Association and Major General Hu Changming, Deputy Chief of Office of the International Military Co-Operation also attended the event.
