On February 14, good news came from the Xiangyang Wild Birds Conservation Association that a dozen Chinese mergansers (first-grade state-protected bird) was found in Hanjiang National Wetland Park, Gucheng, Xiangyang after more than a year of observation.
Bounded by water on three sides, covering an area of 21.88 square kilometers, Hanjiang Wetland Park has an integrated ecosystem with massive vegetation and rich bird resources.
Surviving after the Tertiary Glacial Age and found more than 10 million years ago, Chinese merganser is an international endangered species.
