Huang, a 220-kilogram man living in Wuhan, Hubei province, finally managed to get up from the ground two hours after he fell. The fall occurred in front of the same hospital from which he had been discharged earlier in the day. He got up only with the help of a number of firefighters and medical staff.
Huang’s weight has been above average ever since he was young, and he gained significantly more weight seven years ago. For this, he earned a reputation as “the heaviest man in Wuhan.”
His weight makes it difficult for him to move freely, and he has also lost out on job opportunities due to his obesity. In order to lose weight, he decided to watch his diet during this year's Spring Festival, but his unhealthy diet caused him to become dehydrated and suffer a serious fall while at home.
After a week-long treatment for acute gastritis, Huang was finally discharged from the hospital. However, he lost his balance in front of the hospital after walking out, and couldn’t manage to get himself back up.
After two hours, with the help of several police officers, firefighters and medical staff, Huang rolled over onto a reinforced makeshift stretcher and was carried into the hospital to undergo further tests. His attending doctor said his weight problem is caused by congenital problems and an endocrine disorder.
