A hanging swimming pool at a hotel in Shanghai's Pudong district has been catching eyes ever since a scene in the movie "Mechanic 2" featured another such pool, China News reported on Feb. 8.
As China’s first cantilevered indoor swimming pool, the pool's base was built on the 24th floor of the hotel six years ago. It is 30 meters long, 8 meters wide and 1.5 meters deep. It boasts a fully transparent glass bottom, through which it's possible to look all the way down to the ground and off into the distance. Its construction involved both professional designers and aerospace engineers, and its bottom was built using Alek transparent glass suitable for the city's fluctuating temperature.
