A woman in Xianyang, Shaanxi province brought her children to a swimming pool on the afternoon of Jan. 3. As the mother played on her phone nearby, her 4-year-old son tragically drowned in the water.
After about an hour, the woman, surnamed Xiao, realized she didn't see the young boy. She immediately asked pool employees to search for her son, but it was already too late.

According to Xiao, both she and her husband are from Shandong province. They planned to return to their hometown for Spring Festival. She never imagined that her child would suffer such a miserable fate. Presently, local safety supervision and public security departments have set up special investigation team for the accident.
