Long procedures related to appointment making can be one of the greatest obstructions to seeing doctors yet in China you can go and take a registration number the day of and simply wait in a line while without going to a private clinic or community medical facility.
A student from Mauritius studying in Guangzhou stated that using student cards in the hospital in China is easier than at home.
A foreign resident from South Africa in China for seven years said, “some people say public hospitals are slow, but it depends on which hospital you go to and your condition. In an emergency when you have money, who would not go to a nicer hospital for just a little more money.”
An Indian exchange student stated that “lines elongate as people try to confirm which doctor they should see at the registration desk as many people are unclear who they need to see.”
Emergency services have benefits when compared with the U.K. and the U.S.
In England emergency services can be prolonged depending on what is being looked at while it is not the case in China.
A British engineer working for Audi (China) expressed that he was satisfied with Chinese emergency services.
A high level American executive interviewed has a similar impression that Chinese medical services are very fast and that it is not necessary to wait as long as you do in the U.S.
A Canadian musician fluent in Chinese, who is head of a record company and living in Beijing for 8 years with two half-Chinese children, recalled some head injuries to a child a few years ago that needed emergency service. She remembered the emergency service was very fast, accurate and that they returned practically without waiting.
