The General Hospital of Beijing Military Region was officially renamed as Army General Hospital of PLA on May 5. A nameplate unveiling ceremony was held in front of the outpatient service building to commemorate the occasion.
With a history of over 100 years, the Army General Hospital is a large-scale comprehensive hospital that receives about 6,000 outpatient visits every day.
Recently, the Central Military Commission has been investigating the complaint that many military hospitals have subcontracted whole departments to private contractors, who take advantage of the fame of military hospitals to make money dishonestly. An official from Army General Hospital said that the hospital strongly disavows such criminal activities and would never subcontract its departments.
According to the official, the name change was ordered by the Central Military Commission. The original Beijing Military Region no longer exists because of military reform. Since Jan. 16 of this year, the PLA has managed the hospital.
