Macao, Portugal to Strengthen Cooperation in Science,

China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) and Portugal signed an agreement here Tuesday to strengthen their cooperation in the fields of science and technology.

The agreement was signed by Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of the Macao SAR, and Gago Mariana, the Portuguese minister of science and technology.

Mariana told the press that in line with the agreement, the two places will cooperate more closely in the sectors of software development and academic exchanges.

The scientific and technological cooperation between Macao and Portugal has increased, instead of diminishing, since Macao's return to China at the end of 1999, he noted.

The Portuguese official hopes the Sino-Portuguese cooperation in terms of science and technology to be deepened with Macao as a bridge.
