CPPCC Chairman on Study Jiang's July 1 Speech

The chief of China's top advisory body said Monday that studying the speech made by Jiang Zemin on July 1 marking the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is currently a major job for the whole Party, the Chinese people and CPPCC committees at all levels.

Li Ruihuan, chairman of the Ninth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said the speech gives a detailed explanation of the important idea of the "three represents'" and is vital for strengthening and improving Party building and promoting the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new century.

Speaking at the 32nd chairpersons' meeting of the Ninth National Committee of the CPPCC, Li described the speech as a major achievement the Party has made in theoretical innovation, calling on leading members of the CPPCC at all levels to study well the speech and combine theory with practice.

Fourteen vice-chairmen attending the meeting held that efforts should be made to adhere to the system of multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the CPC's leadership.
