A former security guard was sentenced to 12 years and six months in jail and fined 13,000 yuan ($2,088) for robbery, according to Xicheng prosecutors, the Legal Mirror reported Wednesday.

The man, surnamed Li, quit his job as a security guard in a residential community in Xicheng in April 2012.

He returned there on May 2, and saw a woman taking the trash out alone. He then grabbed her by the neck and forced her to return home to get the password for her savings account, in which was 34,100 yuan. Li confessed that knowledge from his old job helped him commit the crime.
