The Foreign Affairs Office of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) of the People's Republic of China organized a briefing yesterday for the military attachés in China on health work of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA). Over 70 military attachés to China from 50-plus countries attended the meeting.
An officer from the Health Department under the General Logistics Department (GLD) of the PLA briefed the military attachés on the organizational structures, functions and tasks of the PLA health system and answered their questions.
The military attachés expressed that they got a general idea of the health work of the Chinese PLA from the briefing, and were deeply impressed by the important roles the Chinese military health departments have played in the country's post-disaster medical rescue and emergency response to public health incidents. They also spoke highly of Chinese military health departments' active involvement in the United Nations peacekeeping actions and international humanitarian aid operations.
In order to let the foreign armed forces have an objective and just understanding of China's national defense and army building and to deepen the exchange and cooperation between Chinese and foreign militaries, the Chinese Defense Ministry regularly invites leaders and experts from state organs and related military departments to brief the foreign military attachés to China on China's foreign affairs situations, national defense policies and military development.
