(China Military Online)

09:10, December 13, 2012

The General Staff Headquarters (GSH), the General Political Department (GPD), the General Logistics Department (GLD) and the General Armaments Department (GAD) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) jointly issued a notice and printed and distributed the document entitled Opinions on Accelerating the Construction of Large Equipment Depots (hereinafter referred to as "the Opinions").

The Opinions points out that the equipment value has been constantly enhanced with the rapid development of high-tech equipment. The construction of supporting facilities of equipment depots is of great significance in maintaining tactical and technical performance of equipment, prolonging its service life and improving the comprehensive support capability of systematic military operation based on information systems.

Troop units at different levels should accelerate the construction of large equipment depots which are moderately-sized, multifunctional, economically affordable, safe and reliable in accordance with the requirements of comprehensive construction of modern logistics and equipment. By 2020, the troop units of the PLA will basically complete the construction of supporting facilities of large equipment depots, forming a support system for large equipment depots.
