Nikkei opens higher on easing global economic concern

TOKYO, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened sharply higher Friday.

In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 203.94 points, or 1.92 percent, from Thursday to 10,824.81.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 15.44 points, or 1.72 percent, to 913. 06.
