BEIJING, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Two senior military officials on Thursday called for improved work styles within the military and greater efforts to fight formalism and bureaucracy.
Fan Changlong, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), said the improvement of the military's work style is an important issue because it concerns the military's capability building.
Fan, who is also a Political Bureau member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, asked the military's general headquarters and relevant entities to take action to improve their work styles.
He also urged the military headquarters set up examples for its subordinates to follow in eliminating corruption and the abuse of power.
Xu Qiliang, also a CMC vice chairman, stressed at the same meeting that the military general headquarters should act as a forerunner in improving the military's work style.
Xu championed efforts to combat formalism and bureaucracy, as well as put an end to extravagance and malpractice regarding the promotion of officers.
Xu, also a Political Bureau member of the CPC Central Committee, asked military officers to avoid corruption and abusing their power for personal gain.
