Nikkei closes 0.07% higher

Tokyo stocks rose slightly Tuesday with the key Nikkei index edging up 0.07 percent.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 Average advanced 7.37 points from Monday to 9,972.46. The broader Topix index expanded 1.07 points, or 0.12 percent, to 865.18.

The air transport sector, the insurance and pulp and paper sectors were among the leading winners while the decliners included the metal products, mining and wholesale sectors.

The turnover was about 1,103 billion yen (13.60 billion U.S. dollars).
