JAKARTA, June 27 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake of 6.0 magnitude struck off eastern parts of Indonesia on Thursday but there was no potential for tsunami, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said.
The quake jolted at 15: 38 p.m. Jakarta time (0838 GMT) with epicenter at 47 km Ternbate of North Maluku and with the depth at 104 km under sea bed, an official of the agency told Xinhua over phone.
Earlier a quake of 5.8 magnitude hit North Sulawesi at 05 : 59 a.m. Jakarta time on Thursday (2259 GMT Wednesday), the official said.
Indonesia sits on a vulnerable quake-hit zone called "the Pacific Ring of Fire".
