Dr. Ronnie Coffman, Director of International Project Department of Cornell University and a plant breeding expert from the U.S., visited Chongming Base of Bright Rice on May 10 accompanied by Zhang Hanqiang, vice president of Bright Food Group and leaders from Bright Rice.
The visiting group inspected the cutting-edge seed drying machines and refining process facilities of Bright Seed before they toured its labs and demonstration areas for barley and wheat to have clear ideas about the growth status.
In the following symposium, leaders from Bright Seed introduced the status quo and development plan of Bright Seed to Professor Coffman, who in return gave valuable suggestions on various forefront technical issues like screening and breeding new varieties, molecular breeding, organic pesticide, epidemic virus, gene screening and fully recognized the hardware facilities of Bright Seed and its all-around achievements. Dr. Coffman also answered the breeding staff’s questions regarding the tough issues they met in work, building a favorable interactive atmosphere.
Zhang Jianhan, head of Agricultural Development of Bright Food Group and deputy general manager of Bright Rice also took part in the visit.
