Dec. 21, 2012 is an ordinary day (2)

Rumor says “Neutrinos will enter the earth, causing massive energy explosion and the end of the world”.

Mr. Ouyang said that the argument lacks no scientific basis. Many neutrinos travel through people’s body every day. Although they can also travel through the earth, they are unable to cause heat-triggered explosion in the inner core whose temperatures can reach 6,000 Celsius degree. This rumor is a misinterpretation of the nature of neutrinos, and lacks of basic physics knowledge.

Rumor says “the earth will be hit by asteroids”.

Mr. Ouyang said that the asteroid crashing into the earth is a natural phenomenon which did and will taken place. What’s more, there are no signs of the earth being hit by asteroids lately.

As for the polar shift theory, Mr. Ouyang said that the geomagnetic reversal does not mean reversal of geographical locations of south and north poles. It has occurred more than 100 times over the past 200 million years. History proves that the geomagnetic reversal is not accompanied by extinction of species. Furthermore, there are no signs of a geomagnetic reversal on Dec. 21.
