Indian teacher underscores need for boosting China-India cultural ties

(People's Daily Online) 08:56, May 11, 2024

Vikash Kumar Singh, an Indian national, currently works as a teacher at the School of Asian Studies, Beijing Foreign Studies University, where he teaches Hindi, as well as Indian literature, culture, and history.

Singh believes that people in India lack an understanding of China, while translation could be an ideal medium for them to learn more about the country. This realization has inspired him to translate Chinese literature into Hindi versions.

Regarding bilateral exchanges, Singh said that Buddhism came from India to China, and the two countries have enjoyed a long history of cultural communication, which should be further strengthened in the future.

He also stated that India should pay attention to China's development, echoing the sentiment expressed in the Analects of Confucius: "There's always someone to learn from."
