3. Does China have an "overcapacity" problem?
According to statistics from China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the capacity utilization rate of industrial enterprises above the designated size was 75.1 percent in 2023.
Profits of China's major industrial firms increased 10.2 percent year on year in the first two months of 2024.
In March 2024, the Chinese manufacturing industry's finished goods inventory index stood at 48.9 percent.
