China experts in U.S. encouraged to contribute to bilateral ties
WASHINGTON, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng encouraged China experts in the United States to contribute to the improvement and development of China-U.S. relations.
According to a news release published by the embassy on Friday, Xie made the appeal on Wednesday when meeting with a delegation of nearly 30 Chinese and American scholars visiting the embassy, led by the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS) at Peking University and the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
At the meeting, Xie commended the positive efforts made by the IISS and the CSIS to help resume in-person academic exchanges between China and the United States.
The ambassador said that exchanges between think tanks and scholars of the two countries have always played an important role in promoting mutual understanding. Their participation and wisdom are indispensable for finding the right way for China and the United States to get along in the new era.
He expressed hope that more China experts in the United States will deepen their research on Chinese history and culture, understand the fundamental logic of China's path of peaceful development, and contribute to the improvement and development of China-U.S. relations.
