Fu Jian was born in 1987 to a family of embroiderers in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province.

He inherited from them the delicate, exquisite and elegant techniques of Suzhou silk embroidery, which has a history of more than 2,500 years.

Fu spent his childhood at his parents' embroidery workshop. Needle and thread dominated his youth as he sewed traditional flowers, birds, fish and bugs.

Twenty years' experience empowered Fu to innovate and experiment with images of oil paintings and bronzes.

His innovative stitching creates a shadow effect which has earned him public esteem.
