Xinjiang enjoys best 5 yrs of human rights development: official
BEIJING, May 31 (Xinhua) -- The past five years have been the best for the development of human rights in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, a Chinese official said Monday.
People's living conditions have improved remarkably and great achievements have been made in the fight against poverty in Xinjiang, Li Xiaojun, an official with the State Council Information Office, told a press conference.
Xinjiang has achieved great progress in human rights development, and finger-pointing by some countries is purely out of thin air, Li said.
China's ethnic minorities have enjoyed the best years in recent decades in terms of economic and social development, ethnic unity, culture, education, protection of freedom of religious belief and many other aspects.
