(Xinhua)    10:19, February 06, 2020

WASHINGTON, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. State Department said Wednesday that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will kick off his six-country visit next week.

Pompeo will travel to Germany, Senegal, Angola, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, and Oman on Feb. 13-22, State Department spokesperson Morgan Ortagus said in a statement.

His first stop is Munich, Germany, where he will lead the U.S. delegation to the Munich Security Conference and deliver remarks.

Pompeo will also discuss security priorities with his counterparts and key leaders during his stay.

Then he will visit Senegal, Angola, and Ethiopia, holding talks with leaders and his counterparts of the three African countries, according to the statement.

The top U.S. diplomat will wrap up his 10-day trip by visiting Saudi Arabia and Oman, said the statement, adding that Pompeo would touch upon Iran, Yemen, and human rights issues with the Saudi leadership.

Pompeo's visit to Saudi Arabia and Oman will be his first trip to the region after the U.S. killing of Iran's military commander Qassem Soleimani in early January, which led to Iran's missiles strikes to U.S. forces in Iraq as retaliation.
