
10 people were hailed as China’s role models for their great contribution to the country at the “Touching China 2018” award ceremony held Monday in Beijing by China Central Television. The inspiring stories of these finalists touched the hearts of Chinese people.
Zhong Yang: a scientist devoted to biodiversity protection

Zhong has worked in the Tibet Autonomous Region for 16 years, leading a team to collect millions of plant seeds for Chinese crop germplasm resource pools. Deeply rooted in the most remote area of Tibet, he made a great contribution to the scientific research and talent training in ethnic minority area in the western part of China. In 2017, he died from a car accident on his business trip to Inner Mongolia.
