Second-day talk in Beijing urges joint efforts for peninsula peace
President Xi Jinping said on Wednesday that with DPRK top leader Kim Jong-un's three China visits within 100 days, both sides are making history with high-level exchanges between the two countries.
Xi made the remark when meeting with Kim, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.
This is the second meeting between the two leaders during Kim's two-day China visit. Kim left Beijing for home on Wednesday.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said he is glad that the important consensus reached by China and the DPRK is being implemented gradually, refreshing the bilateral friendly cooperative relations with vitality.
He is also glad to see that the momentum of dialogue and easing situation on the Korean Peninsula has been strongly consolidated and the WPK's new strategic route has pushed the socialist cause into a new journey, Xi said.
Xi said he believes that the China-DPRK relationship can better benefit the two countries and their people with joint efforts from the two sides.
The Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia will certainly embrace the bright prospects of peace, stability and development with joint efforts from China, the DPRK and related parties, he said.
Socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, Xi said, and the CPC and people of all ethnic groups, closely united around the CPC Central Committee, are striving for the realization of the "Two Centenary Goals" and the Chinese dream of great national rejuvenation.
Beijing is willing to share its experience with Pyongyang and enhance unity and cooperation so as to jointly create a better future for the two countries' socialist cause, he said.
Kim said the two countries are close and friendly, and help each other as a family, and Xi has provided warm care and support for the DPRK.
Kim said he would spare no effort to elevate bilateral ties to a new height with Chinese comrades and play a role in safeguarding world and regional peace and stability.
On Wednesday, Kim also visited a national agricultural technology innovation park under the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences as well as the Beijing rail traffic control center.
