The Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has conducted a number of high-seas training exercises this week. Formations of H-6K bombers and other fighters flew over the Bashi Strait and the Miyako Strait, putting to test the Air Force's maritime combat capability, said its spokesman Shen Jinke in Beijing on Saturday.

Shen said the training is part of the routine yearly training plan of the PLA Air Force, which conforms to relevant international laws and practice without aiming at any particular country, region or target.

In recent years, the PLA Air Force has worked to enhance its real combat capacity through high-seas training in order to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as protect national airspace and development interests.

In accordance with international law and practice, the Air Force will continue to undertake regular systematic high-seas training to further improve its maritime combat ability.
