S. Korea proposes inter-Korean military talks on easing border tensions

By Zhu Mei (CGTN)    09:03, July 17, 2017

South Korea on Monday proposed holding inter-Korean military talks on Friday to reduce tensions along the border, Yonhap News Agency reported.

The talks aim to halt "all acts of hostility" near the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) that bisects the two Koreas, said the South Korean Ministry of National Defense.

Seoul wants to have the rare meeting at Tongilgak, a DPRK building in the truce village of Panmunjom, the ministry said.

The government delivered another proposal on reopening Red Cross talks on August 1 to discuss ways to resume family reunions.
