After half a year's work, forestry police in Mianyang, Sichuan province have solved a large scale wildlife trafficking case, West China City Daily reported on Jan. 4.
Six suspects were arrested for illegally trading rare and endangered wild animals. Expert appraisal confirmed the species of the animals, which included black bears, pangolins, upland buzzards, owls and crocodiles. A total of 193 animal carcasses were seized; of that number, 12 were under first-class state protection and 181 were under second-class state protection in China.
A suspect surnamed Sun has confessed to being engaged in the illegal purchase, transportation and sale of rare and endangered species for a long time.
