Five people are missing in Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province, after a boat carrying eight people capsized in a local reservoir Wednesday evening.

The cause of the accident is still being investigated by local authorities, who sent rescue teams to the site in the early morning.

The steel-made motorized boat were carrying four staff members of the river transport administration of Qingchuan County and four others. They fell into the water of Bailong Lake from the capsized vessel. Three of them have managed to make it to shore so far.

The mayor, Chen Baogen, has been personally directing the rescue efforts.
