Renovated Tomb of Emperor Suiyang OpensThe renovated tomb of Emperor Suiyang of the Sui Dynasty (581-618) opened to public in Yangzhou, an ancient and cultural city in Jiangsu Province on April 10.The tomb lies in the northern suburbs of the city, renowned for its long history and culture. Built in 622, it is the burial place for Yang Guang, the second emperor of the Sui Dynasty and his empress by the name of Xiao. With a total area of 30,000 square meters, it has such facilities as a stone memorial archway, gates, stone bridges, an altar, a sacred route, a city wall, stone towers, and side halls. The renovated tomb features a peculiar architectural style and magnificence. It looks like a regular pyramid with a flat roof, each side being regular isosceles trapezoid. The tomb is 12 meters high, and eight meters and 29 meters long on the top and at the bottom, respectively. The City wall and stone towers feature rare patterns of tombs for emperors of the Sui Dynasty, with a typical architectural style of Sui Dynasty and Tang Dynasty (618-907).
