More Countries for 5th Shanghai International Film Festival

So far some 300 movies of 36 countries have registered to attend the 5th Shanghai International Film Festival scheduled for this June.

According to some insider, this film festival will record an unprecedented gala for many registered countries like Brazil, Iran, Israel, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, etc, that come to this event for the first time. This indicates that more and more movie companies of various countries and region are getting interested in the movie market in China. In addition, most movies are considered of good quality and nearly half of them are newly produced.

Unlike the past events, the committee prize will be raised to the runner-up next to Jinjue award (Golden Cup) in line with the international practice. The member of the appraisal committee has already been decided and they are from Russia, Poland, Britain, the ROK and China the host with the namelist to be announced at an opportune moment. Instead of mere exhibition, the show, talk and dealings will be combined into one during the festival. Also, the international academic seminar on movies will reportedly focus on a thematic topic for the development of "digital movies".
