Macao to Issue Stamps Featuring Religious Beliefs

The Postal Services of China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) will begin issuing a set of stamps featuring cultural convergence and religious beliefs Thursday.

The set includes four stamps bearing the face value of one pataca (about 12.5 US cents), 1.5 patacas, two patacas and 2.5 patacas. A total of 750,000 sets will be issued, officials of the Postal Services said.

It will be the fourth set of stamps for the year 2001. Other postal products such as souvenir sheet, first-day cover and introduction paper will be available at the same time. The Postal Services plans to issue 12 sets in the whole year.

Buddhism is worshipped in temples as the major religion in Macao.
