YINCHUAN, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- A direct charter flight route will be opened between the cities of Yinchuan, capital of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and Bangkok, airport authorities said Thursday.

The charter flights are expected to start on Jan. 13, 2013 using a Boeing 737-300 aircraft, the Ningxia Airport Company announced in a written statement.

The flight will be offered every six days until June 2013, the statement said.

Passengers who previously had to make connecting flights via Beijing or other transfer hubs when traveling to Thailand will only require five hours to arrive in Bangkok using the charter flight, the statement said.

The route will be Ningxia's second international direct flight route following a direct flight from Yinchuan to Seoul that was launched in March.
