A bus driver hit with intense pain while behind the wheel managed to stop his vehicle and get all passengers to safety, in Changsha, Hunan province.
He Weihong, driver of the 906 bus which has route through the downtown area of the city, felt a sharp pain in his abdomen at 4 pm on Sunday, making him shake and unable to drive the bus.
Despite the pain, he managed to stop the bus before collapsing in his seat, Xiaoxiang Morning Post reported on Tuesday.
Some passengers assisted the 45-year-old and performed traditional scrapping therapy Gua Sha, and called an ambulance.
"It's the first time I have had such an accident since I started driving the bus four years ago," He said, adding that he called the next bus driver to catch up with him when he started to feel unwell, but the pain became too severe and he was forced to stop the bus a few minutes later.
He was sent to the nearest hospital within 20 minutes.
The doctor in charge of He's treatment said he was suffering from kidney stones and the intense pressure and long work hours were the major cause.
Huang Wen, the leader of He's work team, said the company should conduct more physical examinations to monitor their staff's health.
"I didn't know who (the passengers) who gave me the scraping therapy when I lost my consciousness were. I do appreciate their help," He said.
He is in stable condition in hospital.
