DALIAN, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Local maritime authorities said on Thursday that 13 people have been confirmed dead and three remain missing after a fishing boat capsized off the northeastern coast of China early on Wednesday.
Huge waves sank the boat with a 17-member crew aboard at about 2 a.m. when they were about to transfer to a bigger vessel two nautical miles from a fishing port in Dalian, of northeast China's Liaoning Province, according to a statement from the Dalian maritime bureau.
After a day of searching, three people are still missing and the rescue and search operation will continue, it said.
Only one person was rescued.
