Jiang Dingzhi re-elected governor of Hainan

HAIKOU, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Jiang Dingzhi was re-elected governor of Hainan, China's southernmost island province, on Thursday at the first session of the 5th Hainan Provincial People's Congress, the local legislative body.

Jiang, born in September 1954, is a native of Liyang County, Jiangsu Province. He worked in the eastern province from 1975 to 2005.

Jiang then served as vice chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission from 2005 to 2010 before starting his political career in Hainan in December 2010.

He was named acting governor of Hainan in August 2011, after the local legislature approved the resignation of his predecessor Luo Baoming.

Jiang was elected governor of the island province in February 2012 at the fifth session of the 4th Hainan Provincial People's Congress.
