BEIJING, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- The head of the ideological steering body of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Friday stressed efforts to consolidate people's confidence in China's socialist path and system.

Liu Yunshan, head of the Spiritual Civilization Steering Committee of the 18th CPC Central Committee, made the remarks while presiding over the first plenum of the body.

He said extensive efforts should be made to educate the public on socialism with Chinese characteristics, "thus consolidating people's confidence in our path, theories and system and pooling our spiritual strength for the great 'China Dream.'"

Liu is a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

He said concrete steps should be taken to promote cultural and ethical progress in order to rally all Party members and people under the leadership of the CPC for completing the building of a moderately prosperous society in China.
