New thinking needed in China-India relations

(People's Daily Online)

15:25, January 17, 2013

State Councilor Dai Bingguo has recently attended the third meeting of BRICS senior representatives on security issues in New Delhi, exchanging views with Indian leaders on the bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common concern. Both sides are looking forward to a sustained and stable development of bilateral relations in the new year.

Both China and India are countries with ancient civilizations. As important neighbors of each other, they have thousands of years of history of friendly exchanges. In modern times, the two countries had experienced a similar fate and contracted a deep friendship when fighting for national independence. Despite the unexpected turns caused by the border clashes, the China-India relations have gradually moved back on the track of normal development under the joint efforts of both sides.

Since entering the new century, China and India accurately grasped the right orientation, constructively dealt with the bilateral relations and borer disputes, constantly increased strategic mutual trust and strengthened exchanges and cooperation.
