A traditional Chinese popcorn cooker, or what some call a popcorn cannon, has become a hit in America.

A thing known to many Chinese, has now taken Americans by surprise.

"Check this out. Reveal it."

"You’ve gotta be kidding me."

"I’ve heard of these things, but I didn’t think they really existed."

A brand new popcorn machine made in China.

And the hosts on discovery channel are taking it seriously. They’ve translated the Chinese manual, put on this bomb suit, and plus...put it behind bullet proof glass.

All things seem to suggest it’s a real cannon.

"At that point, Jamie will turn off the flame."

"I will place this whole thing upright."

"Pop that lever, which either will make us all dead, or give us some popcorn to enjoy."

"If we just find pieces, can I have your watch?"

"Absolutely!"

"It’s not the simplest way to make popcorn."

"Go for it!"

"Three, two, one!"

"If there’s ever been a time, to say "Don’t try this at home." It’s now."

"Totally, that’s the most fun I’ve ever had making popcorn."

"And the most mess."

"Absolutely."

"And the most messy."

"Absolutely."

While it’s totally exotic for Westerners, in China, this video has made a lot of people feel quite nostalgic.

Once everywhere in towns and cities across the country, it was the only way for Chinese children to enjoy popcorn.

And for them, their American friends have forgotten one key procedure---covering the machine’s front part with a sack, to keep the corns from going all over the place.
