Taiwan's Foxconn Technology Group, one of the biggest contract makers of electronics in the world, told the Global Times Thursday that some employees are under investigation over allegations of bribery.
"It is individual behavior, and not related to the company itself," company spokeswoman Laura Liu told the Global Times.
According to a statement e-mailed by Foxconn to the Global Times Thursday, law enforcement officials from both the mainland and Taiwan along with the company's internal audit team are carrying out the investigation, because "a number of Foxconn employees" have been accused of involvement in illegal payments from Foxconn's supply chain partners.
But the company said that it is still waiting for the investigation result, noting that supply chain operation and business development are all operating normally.
According to a report Wednesday by Taiwan's Next Magazine, a group of senior level managers in Foxconn had sought bribes from some suppliers.
