Chinese stocks open lower

BEIJING, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks opened lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.21 percent to 2,271.3.

The Shenzhen Component Index opened at 9,077.5, down 0.36 percent from the previous close.
