The South African Presidency says ailing 94-year-old former South African president Nelson Mandela remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

Mandela has been in hospital for two weeks in Pretoria where he is being treated for a recurring lung infection. But the UK newspaper the Daily Mail reported Saturday that Mandela is unresponsive and his immediate family is now discussing whether to withdraw treatment.

This is the third time Mandela has been admitted to hospital this year. In March, he was hospitalized after doctors diagnosed pneumonia. He was also admitted in December for the same lung infection.
