VLADIVOSTOK, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Representatives from about 60 Asia-Pacific countries gathered here Monday to discuss pan-region energy challenges.
Talyat Aliev, deputy director of the Russian Energy Ministry's International Cooperation Department, highlighted the importance of cooperation among Asia-Pacific countries in solving energy security problems at the opening session of the Asian and Pacific Energy Forum (APEF).
The four-day forum will discuss regional cooperation for enhanced energy security and sustainable use of energy. The program includes a senior officials' meeting, a ministerial session and side events.
The APEF is organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.
